What a busy day, and a busy week. If it continues like this, it will be a good month. We attended the "Get Active in the National Park" festival at Loch Lomond Shores yesterday with some of the birds. Our site was well attended, and everyone commented on how good it will be when we are on our own site there. It looks as if I will be over-run with helpers next week. That gives us a chance to get some serious cleaning done. I prepared well, plenty of rubber gloves and cleaning agents. We are attending Oban Highland Games again this year, third year in a row. It is a long day, but very enjoyable with lots of interested and knowledgeable people. We will close the centre that day, Thursday 22nd August. It does Bird of Prey Centres and the sport of Falconry no good when there are idiots out there exploiting birds purely for money. They are doing it in a totally unprofessional manner, and giving completely the wrong impression to the public. There are two outfits at the moment who require either bringing into line or closed down. Both are in the spotlight of a number of people, and hopefully organisations that can do something about it. Unfortunately, most members of the public do not recognise the difference between a good display and a bad one, birds in good condition, and those in poor condition. It is obvious they are purely in it for the money. As someone said on a Falconry Forum, "no better than beggars on the street".
