What a great surprise to see the statue garden for Dr. Carter G. Woodson, Father of Black History Month sitting at what was formerly Washington Square here in Huntington, West Virginia!! I was so excited and it made me prouder to be a part of the Public Relations Team for ASALH, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History started by this great man. The strength on his face is powerful and courageous. The vision from God has affected the world. ASALH sets the theme for Black History Month annually and the worlds most accomplished scholars, historians, educators and more are active members of this prestigious organization. President Obama extended a personal invitation in 2013 and 2014 and God blessed this PEARL to be in the number. More fuel to my soul and destined purpose!
