What a magical evening it was! I would like to thank the supporters of Blues Girls Of Summer. After months of preparing I have returned from a much needed vacation with my family. We striked the ballroom and packed for the road the morning after!! It took a small army of volunteers and gracious performers to pull of the Detroit Blues Society fundrasier of 2014 ~ Blues Girls Of Summer at the Tangent Gallery / Hastings Street Ballroom. The list of thank yous is a great one!! I would like to thank the Detroit Blues Society for thier trust in me to produce this event and Dale Robertson for assisting me and managing the Blues Girls Of Summer stage with brilliance. Our title sponsor Kevin Kuptz and Ignited Light and Sound supplied us with top of the line sound, backline and all cordless microphones to accomodate the bands and the Queen as she sang from stage left in her queens chair. The production crew and loyal volunteers were the lifeline of this event but it couldnt have gone on without the bands volunteering their time. Thank you to Willy Wilson & Showtime Dan for thier emcee services, Terry Bradley for sound (hes the man!) , Linda Mendelson and her husband Don for their beautiful art in the bar, Robin Buckson & Joe Van Bael for the room, Jeanne Mitchell and Brandon Moses for their wonderful volunteer service and Brandons design of the BGOS logo. Slowes for the $50.00 certificate, Motor City Brew Works for the summer brew vases. Patti Glotfelty (my sis) for being into it and supplying all of the Blues GIrls Of Summer banners and keychaines. Janet Clark for her hard work and joyful sipport. Alberta Adams for her life!! Tera Holcomb from Side Car Detroit, Bill Whitener for his loyal volunteerism. Steve Soviak and DBS Board, Elayne Sikelianos for filling in for a judge at the end! And the beautiful girls of summer ~ they were all so pretty!!! Marley was breathtaking~ The perfect opener for BGOS with her and Hal Christiansen s band Spoonful.!! Kathleen Murray and her big band Groove Council for filling the house at 3:00...she sure brought the folks out! Nikki Pearse for her first run with Cannonball Underground out front! Eliza Neals rocked the house all pretty in sea foam green chiffon and bare feets :) Thornetta Davis Thirdpage ~ Winner of the Pretty Outfit Contest! ....Thornetta and her band with guest Brett Lucas owned the room for their set...and Tosha Owens tearing the house up with her rockin vocals and killer band!! Heather Jones from Flint was gorgeous in her flowered form fit, amazing vocals and red rose in her hair!! Jennifer Westwood a walking doll and her handsome sideman Dylan Collins Dunbar melting hearts with thier version of Jolene and more... Sandy Mulligan and her band The Gypsies...what fun they were and a perfect end to the evening. The ladies even got to do an impromptu set with our Queen Of The Blues Alberta Adams that was celebrating her 97th Birthday!! Thank you all for a beautiful summertime event and I will get you a full report after our next DBS meeting on the funds rasied. We need to subtract a few expenses first....I just know that we couldnt have done it without any of you!! Ladies please tell your bands that the DBS thanks them dearly!!
