What a wonderful morning that was! In drizzely rain we held a small remembrance & 2 trees planted were planted in the Forest. About 100 people turned up, including pupils from Bowker Vale school, Rob Fullen & Dave Lynch from the scouts who played the last post, councillors, council staff, members of the Forest group, members of the British Legion, 2 Marines who are currently serving in Afghanistan & members of the public. The school provided a bench with an inscription on it & the Marines laid a wreath on it. One of the trees was in memory of a Marine who helped to plant the memorial trees in 2007 & who was killed in Afgan. One of the Marines who was a friend of the one who was killed movingly put his gloves in with the tree. I hope Ive remembered everyone. There will be photos posted at a later date when Ive gathered them al together.
