What an awesome day, Akea and Tara passed their Search and Rescue HR Certification with flying colors. I worked Tara first and by that time the wind had shifted and was carrying the scent from Akeas test area into the one Tara was working. It must have been over a hundred yards away but Tara hit it and tried to work towards it only to be stopped by the fence. It was very cool to see her pick up the odor from that far away and go to work it. Being Akeas problem I had to call her off of it and then she went back into search before finally picking up her find about 20-30 feet away and working over to it. Taras area was littered with animal bones and yet she was not distracted in any way by them. All in all it was a fantastic search. Akeas area was also littered with animal bones, a huge cow bone, a relatively fresh Antelope leg and tons of rabbits but she remained focused and found her find in only a few minutes once she went to work. She hit the source, downed and off we went with a successful test. I could not have been happier with the way the two of them worked.
