What do you do when you get back from a fabulous day at Te Aroha - TopicsExpress

What do you do when you get back from a fabulous day at Te Aroha and Paeroa? You know---stopping at lots of places, including a café on the main back road to Matamata, just after the Ngatea turn-off, where we found a delightful haven where Perdy seemed quite happy to just watch us drink our coffee and eat a blueberry muffin (Shared of course) then onto Te Aroha, where Perdy had a swim in the river and explored a nature reserve, firmly on leash for those who were about to go ballistic! A quick sojourn along the main street, exploring the op shops and discovering a wonderful café that served healthy options, including gluten-free ones for Sis. I really enjoyed my serving of a spicy tofu salad. On then to Paeroa where we checked the antique shops. Hard to find bargains I would say, although I did purchase some old pseudo-crystal retro wine glasses and the nice owner gave me a discount without me asking. An ice-cream and yet another walk for Perdy followed by a quick manic run on a rugby ground and it was all the way home. I dropped Janice off and headed toward the Bay where---yes she had another run! Now---I have just shoved a few ingredient in the slow cooker (on high) that should resemble a green chicken curry once complete. I have also put together a fruit cake. Into a bowl goes a few cups of dried fruit mix with extra cranberries, some ginger, cinnamon, eggs a bit of sugar and some self-rising flour. I DONT MEASURE! I biffed in some butter and heaps of booze. Who cares what it was! It was a bit runny so I crushed up some weetbix and the mixture looked the real deal. Taste---of course I did! Damn---why cook it? Now, its in the oven, being caressed by a low heat and it can come together and contribute to some nice cuppas over the next week or so! Coming around? authorneilcoleman
