What does Advancing Justice mean to you? For me, it means that despite being in an English dominant society that we still have respect for those who are more comfortable speaking, thinking, and DREAMING in other languages. Have you ever learned another language? Have you tried speaking it and get laughed at even if your grammar is correct but just have a different accent? Have you ever been at a loss for words when trying to share a story with someone else? Now imagine a world in which that other language youre learning is the dominant language. Then, imagine wanting to seek help but not being able to fully express what youre going through? Or not being able to talk to anyone that speaks the same first language as you? At the doctors office… the courtroom… your childs school. Do you think others should treat you unfairly just because you sound different? You deserve the right to speak out and be heard. Before & beyond this contest, this is my mission.
