What grows in your prayer-life will surface in your real-life. - TopicsExpress

What grows in your prayer-life will surface in your real-life. This was an a-ha moment...or really, a DUH moment...for me at church this Sunday. I used to be a nighttime prayer kinda guy -- meaning, the only time you found me praying was right before bed with a somewhat rehearsed request for my daily needs and, of course, the occasional big moment or give me strength -type prayer as needed during normal business hours. But over the years, Ive worked to have a relationship with God vs viewing Him as some bearded bell-boy in the sky, whom I only go to with my daily list of requests. My prayers have changed from nighttime ritual to a more casual, constant conversation with The One who walks beside me in my every moment. I have enjoyed, benefited and somewhat prided myself on this change, however, I have realized Im lacking in intentional, deep, specific prayer. Yes, God knows my every desire, but rarely do I share them with Him in a conscious manner and ask for guidance and wisdom. I have the leading authority on EVERYTHING in my back pocket and fail to use Him as anything more than a buddy who offers support throughout the day. With that in mind, Im challenging myself to a 5 Day Prayer Challenge with specific topics to focus on in great detail each day. Tues - Mandy & Our Marriage Wed - Maddie & Our Family/Home Thurs - Friends & Family Members Fri - Career & Service Sat - The World Outside Our 4 Walls This challenge will not focus on the amount of time, but rather the quality of time spent in prayer. I ask of those of you who might be so inclined, to keep me accountable. New habits, no matter how important, are hard to form and this is not one Id like to see go unadopted. If youve done something similar or this inspires you to do something now, Id love to hear how it impacts your life, as it is surely going to impact mine. #5daypray
