What happened today in Migori is unacceptable and deplorable. The presidency must be respected. Interestingly, within Luo Nyanza, political hooliganism is confined to Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori only. This should trigger an interrogation. Violent dissent to the Government never happens in Siaya or Bondo no matter what the issue of grievance is. And this albeit the fact that to the people of Homa Bay and wider South Nyanza, nothing is and has been more painful than the assassination of Thomas Mboya, whose death they chose to silently mourn for the last 45 years without any violence. There are two explanations to this 1) either the youth in Siaya and Bondo have more to lose if they went on a violent destruction of property to show their dissent, which explains their restraint or 2) this imbalance in distribution of violence is planned. If todays hooliganism was planned, it is bad politics and must be condemned. If it is because the Kisumu, Migori and Homa Bay youth have nothing to lose then this would put serious questions on why this skew in Nyanza.
