What happened yesterday in Peshawar was Yazids legacy. He killed - TopicsExpress

What happened yesterday in Peshawar was Yazids legacy. He killed the innocent children of the guardians of Islam in the name of the then Islamic state 1400 years ago, and after yesterdays tragedy, which has all the hallmarks of a crime committed by followers of Yazid the cursed, it is safe to say his cursed message lives on. Yazid ibn Muawiya was not just some man on a power high, he was the epitome of brutality and evil who not only murdered and tormented the Prophets family with full knowledge of their purity and status, but also distorted facts and religious principles to justify his acts of extreme terror. He introduced the Islamic world to terrorism. Islam came in the name of peace, justice and harmony, so we rightly wonder what version of Islam are these devils propogating. The answer to that is recorded in history. Cold blooded murder and tyranny in the name of Islam is not a modern invention. Its seeds were in fact sown by the hypocrites during the life of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and only a few decades thereafter history witnessed the slaying of Imam Hussains 6 month old son Ali Asghar. Yazid and his army lay the foundations for these brutalities that we witnessed yesterday in particular and regularly otherwise. It is in Yazids distorted interpretation of Islam that these bloody terrorists find their inspiration. Most of the Islamic terrorists would probably take Yazids filthy name with great reverence - evil may have different names and faces but it has the same spirit and ideology. In order to purge our religion and society of this menace we must consistently and boldly condemn each and every act of terror, particularly those which have been committed in the name of Islam. We must condemn Yazid to condemn his rapidly spreading ideology so that the minds of our future generations are safe from brain wash and psychological warfare by these bloody terrorists. The point of keeping Imam Hussains (a.s) martyrdom alive all these centuries later is not to promote rituals or sectarian rift - the point is to learn to distinguish between right and wrong, between haq and baatil. If all persons claiming to be Muslims understood the sacrifice and message of Hussain - not just the rituals assigned to it like most shias but the true real meaning and ideology - all Yazids for all times to come would be unmasked. There is no room for murder, terrorism and brutality in the Islam that Imam Hussain sacrificed his life and children for. **(This is not a pro shia/shiaism post as most shias are too busy in their rituals to ponder and understand the real message of Karbala. Hussain (a.s) belongs to all conscientious humans and not even to Muslims alone, which is why his example serves us all.) By Amna Abbas
