What is it with canteens these days? First, Rajan Vichare of the Shiv Sena dished out vigilante justice with a vengeance when he stuffed chapattis down the throat of a canteen supervisor at the Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi. Vachare was protesting against the inferior quality of the food being served at the Sadan canteen. Now, K C Tyagi of the JD (U) has raised the issue of sub-standard food at the canteen in the Parliament. According to Tyagi, several members, including Jaya Bachchan and Ram Gopal Yadavof SP, had fallen ill after eating the canteen food. He even jokingly called it a conspiracy by the government to “silence” the opposition members.
