What is your craziest mining story? Id like to hear it. Mine: Me, Jeromie Johnson, and another one of our co workers was drilling in Hernshaw deep mine, Logan Co. Our drill ran by water pressure and for this particular job we were recycling the water through a pump in a hole where the water was coming back out of the drill hole. I had to go reset the pump... which was like 50-100 Horsepower... cannot remember the number specifically. The line running out of the top was one of the vinyl roll up firehose type deals. As Im standing over the top of this heavy pump and pick it up to scoot in over, the hose pops off and gives me a face full of water about the same as a fire hose right to the face. I remember the coal particles felt like sand paper. My hard hat and glasses blew off and I busted my noggin on the top which was at about 4 feet or so. I got absolutely drenched lol.
