What was Easier for Jesus to Say? Thy sins be forgiven thee or - TopicsExpress

What was Easier for Jesus to Say? Thy sins be forgiven thee or Take up thy bed and walk ? In Matthew 9, Mark 2 and Luke 5, we have the story of the man sick with the palsy. Mark expounds on this by explaining there were four other guys trying to get this man to Jesus. They ended up climbing up on the roof and cutting a hole in the roof to get the man to Him because there were too many people inside the house. What are you willing to do to get someone to Jesus? Anyway, Jesus says something very interesting in the middle of His interrupted service...He says Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee (!) (emphasis mine) Needless to say, there were some religious folks who got mad at Jesus and they accused him of blasphemy. They thought within themselves, Who can forgive sins but God only? The point of the story is that it was easier for Jesus to say Take up thy bed and walk - any one (such as the disciples) who was empowered by the Lord could say that. But Jesus is the only one that can say thy sins be forgiven thee The religious folks for a change were right that only God can forgive sins - and since Jesus is God in Human Flesh, he was absolutely right to say that. It was nothing for Him to say Take up thy bed and walk - it cost Him everything to say Thy sins be forgiven thee!! It cost Him the relationship with His Father, it made Him leave the glories of Heaven, left behind the streets of gold and gates of pearl for Him to be wrapped in flesh so that we can see Him. (And we beheld the wonder of His glory......John 1:14) All of the sin of the world, from Adam to the end of the world was placed on Jesus. He who knew no sin became sin for us that we may be made the righteousness of God in Him! (Amen, glory to God, Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, WHOO HOOO!!) Because of what Jesus did for me on the cross, I had my sins forgiven on February 11, 1973. To those of us who are saved we have a responsibility to point folks to the One who can forgive sins. To my friends who are lost may I say to you Be of good cheer - thy sins be forgiven thee!!! AMEN!!!!
