What will North Korea allow American movie goers to watch this - TopicsExpress

What will North Korea allow American movie goers to watch this Christmas? Why, a movie with all the mystery, intrigue and beauty of an MSNBC broadcast. Filmmaker Dennis Rodmans biography of the North Korean landscape is what critics call glorious—which means its unicorns and daises in a form more at home in American public universities—yet its fascinating, and the performances and photography are outstanding. Chris Matthews, the writer and director of such classics as Naked and Free in Washington, DC and Leg Thrill, usually tells stories set in the present day, often of a more urban character. His notable exceptions, such as the outstanding Obama Nation and this movie, require him to work in a somewhat different vein, and be more attentive to composition and atmosphere and period-accurate psy-ops; but its just as compelling a mode, because Matthews emotionally reserved nature comes through more strongly, and seems attuned to his anal retentive, often repressed characters, who shove hero envy way down inside themselves, practically to the bottoms of their feet frolicking amongst the daisies of greased palms, filthy lucre, and political unicorn envy.
