When Abu Lulu wanted to kill syedna Umar (R A), he obviously couldn’t just approach Umar R A and kill him. Umar R A was much stronger - the leader of the greatest army of the time. So he planned to kill him the only time he easily could, which was when Umar R A was in his Salaah! He knew the khusho of the Muslims would be so great they wouldnt notice. So he came, at the time of Fajr, with a dagger, whose blade he had dipped in poison He jumped up the rows and finally stabbed Umar R A Umar R A was leading the prayer, when he was stabbed. As he fell and the blood started gushing out, his first concern was the salah of the muslims. He immediately signaled to someone else to take over the Salaah, so people dont break their Salaah. Umar R A was bleeding badly and the poison was spreading too, and he fainted. This was a critical point, people were afraid, their beloved leader, after the Prophet S A W and Abu Bakr R A, has gone into a deep unconsious state. They kept trying to wake him up. They kept trying different things, but nothing would work! Finally someone said I know how you can wake him up! How? Tell him its time for Salah. So they whispered this in Umar R A’s ear “Ya Ameer Al Mu’mineen, it is time for salaat” and Umar R A jumped up! Al Salaah, Al Salaah Even in this deep unconsious state the only concern that could wake him up was Al Salaah! He was bleeding, he was in pain and feeling weak but he still prayed. He died later the same day. This was the concern and salaah of Umar R A. So what excuse does that leave us with? None! When we are feeling too tired to pray just think of Umar R A bleeding & in pain but still performing his Salaah. SubhaanAllah.... ~S~
