When I first saw him, he was just a gray streak darting under the shed in the goat pen. When I got a better look, I saw it was a very young kitten, so wild that I could not get close. It is a mystery where he came from. I got Meeka and Mandy fixed and Miss Kitty (abandoned by the nearest neighbor) has one baby (and is soon to be fixed). Starving, he was living on spilled goat feed, dirty, and fleeing from my every approach, but in time his hunger over came his fear and one day I saw him on the front porch eating cat food. He was still wild, and the other cats attacked him, but he would come when I put out food. One day while he was scarfing down food, I reached out and petted him. His body instinctively rose to meet my touch, but when he realized it was me, he ran. Soon we got passed his fears and he came alive at my touch, rubbing and purring and meowing. The cats were another story, but by petting them and him at the same time they all began to rub up against each other and soon they accepted this sweet natured little boy. Then yesterday as I watched out the window I saw Miss Kitty licking him clean as he lay, eyes closed in total bliss next to her much smaller kitten, and in a gentle motion she pushed his head to her breast and allowed him to nurse. I can not recall ever seeing a kinder or more loving act, or one more appreciated. :)
