When I first started looking into different degrees years ago, I was torn between Hospitality Management (to pursue my love for event planning) and Photography. One of the most exhilarating things for me is creating an environment for people to relax, put their worries away, and relax. I recently threw a get-together at my home in Chicago. I was constantly asked to sit down and enjoy the party by my guests while I was walking around with food trays and such. Some of my close friends commented, this is what she enjoys, lives for, making others feel great, this IS her fun at the party. Thats the atmosphere I try to create at all my events, an amazing vacation without all the travel costs and such :P, a place to escape and be happy. I figured out, no matter what, I couldnt give up my passion for taking photos. I then started thinking Id be an event photographer, plus the planner. One thing that started to sway me was the fact that when I was stressed, to relax, instead of watching TV or going out with friends Id head to my computer to edit photos. After experimenting in all areas/combinations, I found the best reaction (from myself & others) from my fashion photography. Ive had numerous clients tell me that my photos have brought them to tears, and that theyve never felt so beautiful. When someone hires me, my number one priority is making sure their beautiful insides are radiating and showing on the outside. My stylists (Danie Barton & Hanah Letson) dont focus on getting them into clothing some stylists Ive worked with are trying to sell or advertise, we try to get them into what will make them feel and look their best. Different things are flattering on every body type, skin tone, age, etc. I know all too well what its like to dislike photos of yourself, be self conscious, and hit remove tag like its your job. Maybe because I struggle with those insecurities, it plays a part in me not wanting anyone else to feel those with my photographs. My goal is to make every client want to be tagged in every photo, if they dont like a photo of them I will to take it down immediately. Of course I dont post one unless I think they look great, but everyone sees their self differently and I understand that. Even if its artistically a perfectly set up photo (lighting, framing, etc.) that other artists would give me points for, if the client doesnt feel fantastic about themselves, Im not doing what I set out to do. My photography isnt all about me, or showing off my skills. My work is about making YOU feel amazing about yourself, loving the skin youre in, and being confident. I know certain angles can capture some embarrassing things, I hate 96% of the photos of myself :P so my goal is to make you 100% love every photo that I present to you of yourself.
