When I posted my memorial to my daughter yesterday you may have noticed a printed page next to the funeral notice with her picture on it. I have been asked what it said. Here is the notice. In Loving Memory of Laura A Gracey Laura took her life after a meeting with so called loving elders from her congregation in California on January 8, 2010. I do not know for sure the reason for the meeting on that night or what was said, I do know she felt like she could no longer live up the standards of your religion. I do know she took a massive overdose of prescriptions meds that night and lapsed into a coma from which she never awoke. She was found on January 10, 2010 on the floor of her apartment, surrounded by witnesses on both sides who peaked through the window and saw her lying on the floor for two days but did nothing until the afternoon of the third day. This religion is focused on obedience , loyalty to the GB and punishment above all else. Not love and charity. The teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ are based on love and forgiveness, something you talk about but do not live by. Laura had been disfellowshipped twice before in the 4years since her baptism. She could not endure another judicial process, more shunning, another announcement of disfellowshiping. All she ever wanted was love and acceptance. She once visited your kingdom hall and only one person acknowledged her presence, even though one of her childhood friends was there who ignored her. That was just weeks before she died. Your religion is poison to the week and fragile, the sinner and the lost soul. You love conditionally, punish quickly and shun eagerly . That is your culture, I know I was one of you for over 60 years and I shunned with the best of you. God says he wants mercy not sacrifice, he says those who judge without mercy will have their judgment without mercy. Good advice don’t you think? Take it to heart , I have and shudder at my past life as a witness. There are thousands of ex witnesses who have lost loved ones to shunning, blood transfusions, organ transplants, and suicide. I hope you are correct that there will be a judgment day, for you have a lot to answer for. The similarities to the 1st century Pharisees are apparent. The world is becoming aware of your hypocrisy and double dealing.
