When I returned to American Samoa in 2010 with a BA degree, there - TopicsExpress

When I returned to American Samoa in 2010 with a BA degree, there was a lot of negativism about the corrupted government system in American Samoa. I was discouraged a little bit, but I held on to what most leaders have said in times of graduation that we are the future of this land. I sucked it in and proceed to finding a job. I am now working with the department of education preparing the next generation to become successful leaders in the future and I find HOPE in what myself and many other educators are doing to prepare a better Samoa. Ive also had many conversations with my peers about the government and our desires to become leaders in this government in the future. Tonight, while watching the ASCC commencement, Dr. Taeaoafua Meki Solomona Vaofua Soliai Solomona gave an excellent encouragement to all future leaders of American Samoa. When we achieve our dreams and make our way up with our highest degrees, we must remember the foundation of our Samoan culture; RESPECT. Its important to understand our culture when we return to serve our own people, and we will get our turn. Thank you Meki, you have always been a role model and an inspirational person for me. You are a charismatic leader and I respect you a lot. Katerina Keliiaione Solomona Genesis A. Tau Charity Porotesano
