When I used to drive across town in Phoenix, AZ, merging onto - TopicsExpress

When I used to drive across town in Phoenix, AZ, merging onto another highway normally went to the right. That meant that all you had to do was stay out in the fast lane to avoid all the oncoming and exiting traffic. Now that I drive across town each day in Houston, TX the is one thing that is very different .... all roads seem to merge from the left and from the right. There is no where safe to drive. If you drive the middle lanes people are crossing from left to right and right to left to cross all lanes and prepare for their next exit and merge to another highway. It is really crazy when there are 5 lanes of traffic and 2/3 of the vehicles are planning to cross all of them and they are crossing in both directions. If you are out in the is normally called the fast lane all of a sudden it has become a different road and is soon to merge into another 5 lane highway. If you are on the right lane you must be prepared to move over 2 lanes to the left so that you do not end up on a toll road. It is like that all the way across down town and it is all happening at 65 (and stop and go and taking all sorts of cuts during rush hour.)
