When I worked out of the Bridgeport CHP Office back in the 80s and 90s, I was the liaison officer for the Mountain Warfare Training Center at Pickle Meadows. Every Friday I gave a safety briefing to the Marines who were stationed there after they raised the flag at 0700 hours sharp. I worked closely with the Base Colonel and Sergeant Major on items that pertained to safe driving by Marines or civilians, who could be impacted by base operations. Every year, around the end of October, several Marines in their dress blues, who come to our house and formally invite Pam and I to the Marine Corps Ball. Many years it was at Cezars Palace in Lake Tahoe. Pam and I always had a great time. I would attend in my Class A, with green jacket, uniform. Pam always looked so beautiful for the occasion. They would have the Navy Band play and it was a beautiful ceremony with the most senior and junior Marine cutting the Corps Birthday cake. There were always several Medal Of Honor recipients in attendance. The Marines were hard working, dedicated patriots. A number of them became good friends and I have always had a soft spot in my heart for all of them. HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS!!!
