When You Have Done All That You Could, There Is Contentment And Gratitude --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is hope in Mount Vernon and this knowledge brings with it tidings of Joy. There is a story in The Bible that talks about Lotts pleading with God not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. They both were engaged in a sort of negotiation. If I recall correctly, God said he wouldnt destroy the city if Lott could find 50 people that were righteous within the city. Lott was unable to find the required amount so, he asked God to lower the number. God did, but Lott still couldnt find the second number that God gave him. So, he continued to plea his case for further reduction. The process continued until God got down to 10. Unfortunately, there were not 10 righteous people to be found in the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Therefore, God was forced to destroy the city. We are told that God told Lott and his family to leave the city and do not look back. However, Lotts wife could not resist. She looked back at the destruction and turned into a pillar of salt. Unlike the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, the city of Mount Vernon has over 900 people who are righteous. Yes, those are the individuals who voted yesterday to give Mount Vernons students an opportunity for a better education and taxpayers relief from abuse. Unfortunately, these valiant individuals were insufficient in numbers to help us make a change, but they are significant enough to be noticed. They deserve to feel proud for supporting what is right. I want to thank them for leaving their homes and coming out to the polls in HOPES of Mount Vernon having a better future. I went into this race with no illusions. I knew that I was up against the establishment. These are individuals who have much to lose in personal rewards ranging from economical to social. I know the wisdom which says power concedes nothing. Therefore, I expected the Three Kings of Mount Vernon to pull out all of the stops and I was certainly not disappointed. I was THE only candidate in the race that never met with any of these Three Kings or spoken to them about obtaining their support. They knew that with me there is no compromising my integrity. Therefore, there was no basis for us to engage in negotiation. So, they did not attempt to engage me because, I am certain that the feared being written about on my blog. Some of the experiences that I have encountered during this campaign has reaffirmed my belief that skin color does not make any man better or worse. The color of money may carry some weight in that regard, but skin color is positively not a determinant factor in good character. I have always argued that given the same dynamics, the black man would behave exactly as the Europeans that were engaged in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. My experience in this entire campaign, and in particular, yesterday proved this hypothesis to be absolutely true. Yesterday, Jesus and the law were missing when individuals that were motivated to win at all cost severely damaged their good character. Some of the tactics that I have read about in the Deep South that were used against blacks by whites in voting, were used yesterday by blacks to keep other blacks in an eternal state of oppression. When the pressure is on, ethics, integrity, fairness and all those other nice ingredients that give good character its favor go out the window. Jesus teachings become insignificant to The Benjamin Franklin on the dollar bill. The irony that Mount Vernon, NY mirrors Mississippi, Alabama in tactics to perpetuate oppression against blacks is simply frightening, especially since, The North Star was the direction to Freedom for those in oppression. The fact that black oppressors have replaced white oppressors in causing genocide in the black race is really something for all to seriously contemplate. For almost 20 years under the control of Mount Vernons Three Kings, who are of West African Ancestry, Mount Vernon School System has been producing the commodity for the prison industry. Is there hope that yesterdays vote will change things? I highly doubt it. The candidates who won last night demonstrated one thing: cheating is rewarding. They didnt get arrested for their actions because the law and Jesus were on vacation. However, that little black boy in Mount Vernon who has been schooled by these folks yesterday, may not be so lucky. He serves a purpose as a commodity for the prison industry. Thank you to all the good people in Mount Vernon who refuse to compromise their integrity for material prosperity. We will continue to sleep without the aid of any unnatural substances in our bodies.. Infinite love.. Samuel L. Rivers,Damon K Jones, Deborah Reynolds, Cathlin Gleason, Joy Nembhard
