When a counterfeit cult of personality parades as Christianity......when members adore a person in the pulpit more than they worship Christ.....so sad. Now a new group of church refugees are left reeling from the disappointment and without a church home.....and some perhaps believing that all churches, and their leaders, are hypocritical and deceit ridden. There are some advantages to an episcopal structure where there is more oversight and accountability and periodic shifting of pastors so that they are less likely to develop overly comfortable, adoring constituencies. It seems even his overseers (handpicked and too loyal perhaps?) followed too unquestioningly. We must be Berean....testing what we hear for its conformance to biblical truth. We must pray for our leaders to remain faithful to God and accountable to the church in a real and humble way. Do such individuals start out that way or do they gradually become prideful and deceived themselves?
