When a country is awash with guns, that anyone can obtain, we have what we have today. I will say it again. Countries that are not awash in guns do not have these problems. We have too many guns and they are too easy to get. If we ever want to fix gun violence in this country we have to greatly reduce the number of guns and the easy access and acquisition of guns. The Second Amendment has been misinterpreted. Spot on. In the UK guns have never been readily available and are very hard to get. I live in a very tough place in the UK where fighting for young men is the norm. Its a macho culture just like yours. Fortunately boots and fists are all you have to worry about. Not very nice but usually the loser comes out alive. Pretty much all the time. Guns dont even come in to it. Nobody has guns which means a fight doesnt usually result in death. In fact its very rare. You DO get that the other 34 nations that are considered advanced First World nations have laws that prevent the murder of innocent children and have murder rates that are a tiny fraction of the USA murder rate? You DO get that, right? See, I suspect you do -- because its hard to imagine anyone stupid enough not to realize that laws WORK, while its easy to imagine someone who is such a sociopath that he or she doesnt care that the weakness of our federal gun laws causes the death of tens of thousands of people every year.
