When climate denialist have these hallucinatory fantasies of being Gallileos facing an orthodox scientific establishment they conveniently forget the third party in the equation: Galileo faced a scientific orthodoxy supported by the dominant ideological, political and financial powers of the time. Today the dominant political and financial powers of the time support unorthodoxy. So lets repeat this to make clear: Galileo courageously faced the dominant powers of his time. Dear denialist, youre far from being Galileo. Indeed you are his very opposite. If you were not a tool of the dominant political and economic interests nobody would have heard of you. (on a more intellectual note: Bruno Latour also forgets this in Enquetes sur les Modes dExistences, when he makes it out as if the main problem facing scientists was merely one of refining how to present their case against denialists - forgetting that capital has a way of making any crappy argument look sublime and any sublime argument look crappy)
