When is an appropriate age to pierce a childs ear? My patients know that we no longer pierce ears in my office. It frankly had become more time consuming that anticipated, but the main reason I decided to stop it was because quite frankly I believe that the real age to pierce ears is when the child herself decides that it is time to do it. I fully respect cultural believes of course, but there is not an established appropriate age and doing it in a very young infant can some time carry risks for infection.
