When it comes to diet I believe that NOTHING should be off limits! - TopicsExpress

When it comes to diet I believe that NOTHING should be off limits! If you like chocolate, cheese, bread, pasta, lollies or any other taboo foods there is no reason why you should eliminate them from your diet altogether- even if you are trying to lose weight!! The key is to ensure that these indulgences are consumed in moderation and that the majority of your diet comes nutrient dense whole foods (lean protein sources, vegetables, fruit, low fat dairy, nuts, grains) and that over the course of the day you are in a caloric deficit (consuming less calories than your body expends daily). By dieting without any food restrictions it will ensure that you dont suffer food cravings and blowouts are much less likely to occur which leads to consistency! A diet that you can be consistent with and stick to in the long term leads to results. Dont be fooled into special diets, shakes and pills for weight loss!! Weight loss is not supposed to occur overnight!! 3kg+ weightloss in one week is TOO MUCH!! Be patient and aim for a much more realistic loss of 0.5kg per week. Any thing that is drastic is usually that way for a reason - because it leads to short term results and because its not sustainable. Be realistic, be patient and be consistent and you will have LASTING results! If you follow all of the the above advice and are still having difficulty losing weight ensure that your portions sizes are in check by investing in a good set of kitchen scales and weighing all of the food you consume. You may be surprised at how much or how little you are actually consuming. Over the last 8 weeks Ive been trying to cut weight for my next powerlifting meet. In 8 weeks I have lost 4kg. Some weeks I have lost nothing other weeks I have lost around 1kg most weeks I have lost around 0.5kg. The weightloss has not been linear and some weeks my weight has even fluctuated up. The key to my results though is being consistent!! I havent cut out any foods and I have continued to train hard, gain strength and eat chocolate every night! Thats my type of diet!!
