When my husband decided to do a “check in” for my first chemo - TopicsExpress

When my husband decided to do a “check in” for my first chemo treatment, my initial reaction was- “Oh great, now the whole freaking world will know on Facebook.” Now that I have reflected on it, I think- “Oh great, now the whole freaking world will know on Facebook:” A couple of months ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Six months of treatment plus an additional 6 months of another I.V. drug and I should be good to continue to live my life to the fullest! Talking about it is great therapy for me and I hope that I can share some advice. -To all my girls out there. Go get your FREAKING mammograms! You know who you are M.K.:) Yes, they suck and are no fun. But I promise that all of the surgies, procedures, tests and needles, as well as the stress on your mental state because you do have cancer, are far “suckier” and hurt more than a mammogram. We have the technology- Worship the mammogram~! -If you aren’t of mammogram “age” then do a self check. Yes, it’s weird, but get to know the “Ta Ta’s”, or as my husband likes to call them, the “Knockers.” -Pick heavy things up and put them down. The next time our “box” has a “Bring a Friend” to try a CrossFit WOD I am calling you out. You know who you are. I have the cancer card and I will not be afraid to lower my standards to use it. Bottom line- Exercise! It is so good for the soul. -Lastly, but MOST important of all. Give Jesus, God and Prayer a try. Everyone at some point in their lifetime will receive devastating/sad/not so fun news. How you react to that news is up to you. As we say in the CrossFit world- “Suck it up Buttercup.” You may not receive the answers you want all of the time in prayer, but you will receive the answers that are right for you. I promise Thanks so much for all of the well wishes and prayers. Keep them coming. Now, go get your mammograms!
