When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are Gods possession. Ephesians 1:13 & 14 When my son was born, the first thing the doctor said was, He has a dimpled chin! I laughed because I knew exactly where he had gotten this feature - from my husband. The distinctive dimple marked our precious infant as his fathers son. Friends and strangers alike continue to comment about how much little Levi looks like his daddy. Likewise, when were baptized into Christ, we are set apart with a seal - the Holy Spirit. The world will know that we are sons and daughters of the most high God because of the characteristics the Spirit imparts: Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22 & 23) When we doubt Gods love for us, let us be reminded of these spiritual birthmarks that seal our identity in Christ. Our identity lies in who we are in Christ, not what we do. Even when we sin, we are still Gods children. My husband and I love our son unconditionally (but our human nature limits our patience at times). But Gods fatherly love is perfect, and He will never leave us or forsake us. Let us live in light of that promise today. from 365 Devotions
