“Where are you?” by Johan Terblanche on (18/10/2013) Adam and Eve sinned. Embarrassed and ashamed they tried hiding as God came looking for them. “Adam, Adam, where are you?” God called. Some thousands of years later I stood in sin, naked, embarrassed and ashamed and I heard God calling: “Where are you?” But Lord I mumbled: “I’m just a sinner, a no-good man, not worthy to be in your presence, not worthy to tie the laces on Your shoes!” And the Lord responded through His Word (Bible) saying: “I have come to seek and to save. (Luke 19:10) I have come to the outcast, to those who are sick and helpless. (Luke 5:31-32 & Romans 5:6) I have come because I am able, now and always, to save those who come to God through Me, because I live forever to plead with my Father God for them. (Hebrews 7:25) Like the songwriter I said: “Im not on an ego trip. Im nothing on my own. Ive made mistakes and often slip; Im just common flesh and bones” and through the same sang the Lord addressed me as it says: “He knew me, yet He loved me; He whose glory makes the Heaven shine. Im so unworthy of such mercy, for while He was on the cross, I was on His mind”(From the song “When He Was on the Cross by Jason Crabb) Oh, suddenly the words of another song came to mind. It reads: “He knew me then, He knows me now, and He died for me. He loved me then, and He loves me now, oh, how can it be? He saw my face; He knew the place that I would be today. He knew me then, He knows me now, and He loves me.” (From the song “He knew me then by Dallas Holm) Looking back over my life, I can’t help but see how God was looking out for me. When I was lonely, He stood beside me. When I was afraid, He folded His arms around me. When I was sick, He gently laid His healing hand upon me. When my heart was distressed in sorrow He comforted me. Oh, when I was lost, He found me. When I was blind, He caused me see. Oh how can it be, Oh how can it be? I often stood rejected. I was rejected by the church, not fit for ministry they said. I was rejected by friends, even by family for speaking the truth. I was rejected, cast out and alone. My own family often had to bear the consequences, had to suffer because of others, but “Through it all, through it all, Ive learned to trust in Jesus, Ive learned to trust in God. Through it all, through it all, Ive learned to depend upon His Word.” And today I too can sing: “I thank God for the mountains, and I thank Him for the valleys. I thank Him for the storms He brought me through. For if Id never had a problem, I wouldnt know God could solve them, Id never know what faith in God could do” (From the song “Through it all” by Andrea Crouch) What about you? “Got any rivers you think are uncrossable? Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through? God specialises in things thought impossible, does the things that others cannot do. God is the same and His Word is dependable. Hell make a way through the waters for you. Lifes situations by Him are amendable, mountains and hills He will part for you too” (From the song “Got any rivers” by Jimmy Swaggart) What more can I say? “He knew us then, He knows us now and He Loves us still somehow.” If your heart is sad and lonely, theres no joy anywhere. If theres no one left to comfort, and theres no one left to care. Just cast your cares on Jesus and upon His arms rely, and reach out and touch the Lord as He walks by. Reach out and touch the Lord as He goes by. You will find Hes not too busy to hear your hearts cry. Hes passing by this moment, your needs Hell supply, just reach out and touch the Lord as He walks by.
