Where has the time gone? Five years ago today, you left this earth and went to be with loved ones who had been waiting patiently for you, in Heaven. There is absolutely no doubt that’s where you went, as you had one of the kindest hearts I ever knew. In the past 5 years, so many things have happened, but I don’t have to recite them to you, you already know every single event, as you’ve been right by my side, the whole time. So often, I’ve been able to feel your presence; so often, I’ve fallen asleep while talking to you, only to wake up refreshed by a good night’s rest. I could not have been luckier having you as my dad for 60+ years, and even though I can no longer touch you or kiss you, scold you or laugh with you, I know you’re still here, being my Dad. My friend Natalie tells me every time I see her that you’re thinking of me and loving me. How generous you are with your time and love. So, I decided to send this out, to allow others to know my Dad, Big Jim Rech. You gave me my big brown eyes, my seriousness about finances, my overall business acumen, my poor driving skills, my abilities in the kitchen, my occasional denseness, and a heart that always forgives.
