Whether were in here to lose weight or gain it, arent we ultimately doing this to feel better? So shouldnt we be focusing on how we feel instead? It is very possible to lose weight while losing muscle mass, which ultimately will enable your body to regain weight much easier. It is also very possible to gain a bunch of body fat while gaining just a little bit of muscle. You can literally have two men that each weigh 180lbs, but one has 30% body fat, while the other has 15%. Which do you think is healthier? For me (Justin), once I stopped focusing on the scale so much and started focusing on improving technique and achieving milestones in my performance, it absolutely FREED me from obsessively training and avoiding places I knew had food that would screw up my diet. Sound familiar? Dont let yourself go down that road. Yes, there are challenges on this journey. But ultimately this is supposed to BETTER our lives, not add stress to it. Dont get me wrong, it is encouraging when you see the scale head in the direction you want it to. But from personal experience, the scale can and will enslave you if youre not careful. Focus on better movement, put in hard work while youre here, enjoy the journey, and the aesthetics will come. But they will come with a much more FUNCTIONAL body!
