Whew, okay. You got this, Mel. Own it! In the morning, I start my new job as cake decorator and assistant to cake artist extraordinaire Chef Penny Stankiewicz at Sugar Couture. Im not sure if Im more excited or more terrified, but Im definitely experiencing a lot of both! I started culinary school almost sixteen months ago to the day, and I didnt expect to be landing a position like this for a least a couple more years! IM SO NERVOUS, and I keep having to convince myself that Im good enough! But Im also so so grateful for this opportunity, and I know that I will be networking and learning even more from the greatest cake artists and pastry chefs in NYC, the country, and perhaps even this wondrous globe! To everyone who helped me get here- every pastry chef who instructed me, every industry professional who encouraged me, the amazing classmates I had to lean on at ICC, the family/friends/coworkers who supported me while I was working/in school/interning all at the same time (and was EXHAUSTED)- thank you, thank you, THANK YOU from the very bottom of my heart! Tomorrow beings a very significant chapter for me (even if I have to start with baby steps!) and Ill be working my hardest to be my very best- and then some!
