While hanging out in Fussen, we came across a group of nice young men. I thought they just might be from East Africa as they had that stereotypical look about them - super skinny guys with nearly shaved heads really dark skin etc...well we were by the Restrooms which had been labeled "Ladies" and "Gents" and this group of young men paused outside the two doors and conversation ensued between them. Kai noticed this and just as they were about to go through the door labeled "Ladies" Kai jumped up and redirected them to "Gents". They appeared very grateful. Upon exiting they shot Kai another set of thumbs up as they left. The next day, we see the same guys in running singlets just booking down the road. They all have racing bibs on and we realize they are competing in the "Fussen Romantic Castles Marathon". They were clearly in the lead and no one else in sight to challenge them. I know the Ethiopian and Kenyan National teams train in Europe. I think we got to see a few of them in action today. Holy cow, can they run! Cooler still was running into them at the restrooms. What kind of good running karma do you get when you save a star Ethiopian athlete from an embarrassment?
