While introducing this months character building concept respect, to my Kindergartners, many of them asked: what is respect?......now, instead of imposing my values upon these beautiful minds I took this teachable moment to introduce them to a strange book titled Dictionary.......showing them how to look up a word and read the definition. I also held up another book we have in the classroom library and asked them if they knew what a thesaurus was? :-) Little Tommy raises an eager hand and yells out a dinosaur! Containing my giggles... I smile and reply, it does sound like a dinosaurs name and went on to explain its purpose and usefulness. Hummmm....my heart says.....will these books and many others become dinosaurs? :-( SO......with this thought in mind and the fast approaching gift buying frenzy upon us.....BUY A BOOK a REAL tangible BOOK....READ aloud with your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.....to a child LOVE is spelled T-I-M-E (well, to ALL of us
