While many anti GMO supports may have no idea what they are talking about, those of us who do know how to define the acronym and the controversy around it usually have a lot to say. A genetically modified organism is a transgenic organim, an organism that has the DNA of another organism. Genetic modification is not bad in itself. The problem is that we are now injecting a bile weavile poison in almost all corn, and that is just one example of a possible harmful substance that is GMd into our food so that the agricultural business can make more money. Then there is the amoun of pesticides that get poured into the ground and our atmosphere when you creat genetically modified organism that resist pesticides. Such as round up ready soybeans, which are poisoning families across the Americas. Monsanto is a corporation that does nothing but harm the people and make them money. Genetic modification is not the problem, the genetic/ agricultural corporations are the problem. Corporations like Monsanto and syngenta are the problem with this world. Do not let the media fool you just because most of humanity is ill informed on the subject. I will say time and time again the biggest problem with GMOs is the ignorance on either side. Some people dont even know why GMO stand for while others have misinterpreted it to the point they are terrified. The media takes advantage of this to help the corporations that pay then aka Monsanto and syngenta. On the other hand genetic modification is how we have dealt with making insulin for diabetes patients. Those of you in Maui please vote yes, if you arent registered to vote please do.
