While many of us are still enjoying the reverie of our 50 year - TopicsExpress

While many of us are still enjoying the reverie of our 50 year reunion, a few thoughts still whirl around in my dreams. We were all truly given a gift, as Mary Lou Santucci reminded me when we chatted months ago, to have grown up in a pretty idyllic community, serene in surroundings, all living close in proximity, and all, for the most part, being together since many of us were 6 years old. Many of us were together as kids in the same school, the same town, and in the same neighborhoods for almost 10-15 years before we went off to college and parts unknown. Regardless of whether we were best friends or not, we were around each other for more years than most marriages last! And that can’t help but create a bond stronger than most of us imagined. That, I think, contributed to the profound effect we all seemed to have felt at this particular reunion. We were not “officially” family all those years ago but we can safely say we were as close to an “extended” family as many of our own real nuclear families. That may account for the somewhat unfathomable, kindred spirit that connects us after all these years and may, indeed, keep us connected now more than ever. Like family across the miles, the memories will linger long after the visit…and keep you fulfilled until the next time. My all our paths cross once again.
