While they are at it, perhaps they could try really supporting the troops by providing them a living wage, better support for their families and help with transitioning back to society and surviving after a conflict. Even better, they can stop sending them without the proper equipment like flak jackets and armored vehicles to fight endless, pointless police actions in furtherance of dubious business interests and against the long term interests of the public. No army has ever pacified Afghanistan- not Ghengis Khan, not Alexander the Great, not the Soviets- and we moved ourselves from Benefactor helping repel the Red Army to replacing them as the Adversary on the second thinnest justification for invasion in history, Iraq being the first for that dubious award.
