Whilst we were overseas playing a festival in Singapore some of the guys and I stayed on an extra week for a holiday. We were kicking in Little India because the food is so cheap and the atmosphere is rad and one night whilst walking around, a sprawled out telcom shop was cranking this song onto the footpath which stopped us in our tracks. It had a Bollywood flair but with this really hard hitting distorted trap style chant and incredible drum production. The shop owners gave me the name, Variya from the Tamil gangster film Pudhupettai. As soon as I got back to our hostel I hopped on iTunes to track down the tune and started working on this mashup as I instantly heard it mixing with Kanye Wests Power. After getting a bit lost with the chorus not working and trialing it at a club to limited response, I went back to the chopping board and thought itd be cool to mash it in with Britney Spears Toxic. Not a big fan of her (well her corporate boardrooms) work but the guy who wrote Toxic is a genius. Its such a diamond in the rough and the strings from the track really tied it in thematically.
