Frantz Fanon (Black Skin, White Masks) Brother Kokoi writes that Frantz Fanon was a self hating hybrid, presumably because of the quoted text above and also his own personal choices, more especially that of marrying a white French woman. However, I ask; does writing this, in the context in which we know Fanon wrote, deem him self-hating or is this a mere case of misunderstanding Fanons thought? I would think that Fanon merely relates the thinking of the world, the thinking of the institutions and that which determines our norms and precisely the above listed. Indeed Whites represent beauty, wealth, intelligence and virtue, just like they are (the epitome of) humanity. Outside of whites there is no humanity, merely glimpses of it in anthropoid savages which are in the form of Asians, Native Americans and the Semites. The Black is the total lack of humanness. The black is a nigger, not a person. The Black is cast as the closest to being animal and this disturbingly disgusting world attitude, which Fanon so beautiful discovers and writes about, is the very reason that Blacks are dehumanised. This is how I understand this Fanonian thought.
