Who benefits from a simple donation to a local food bank? Well, a lot of families, mine being one of them. Back when, as a single mom, I decided to leave a pretty darned good job in Seattle to take care of my kids. Hey, they needed me, wed just moved up from Texas and the transition and working 13 hour days was tough on them. I decided that being with them was more important. As much as my family was there for me, and although I worked any odd-job I could at the time to make ends meet, honestly, it was heartbreaking to walk into a grocery store, have your kids ask for something as simple as freeze pops, and not have the funds to cover more than hot dogs, ramen and mac and cheese. Thats where the Central Kitsap Food Bank and Toys for Tots come in. They made my life bearable. They helped feed my family, give them a Christmas, and gave me hope. Eventually, I got back on my feet, married a wonderful man, and here I am today. I encourage you to share your blessings this Holiday Season. Make another child smile, feed a family, adopt a child and make their Christmas magical. Every bit helps. I know, cause I was there.
