Who could possibly get upset about the idea of bike sharing programs? Well, some people, anyway. In New York and Chicago, this summer of bike sharing is apparently running into a few bumps. In its second week of operation, New York’s Citi Bike has found itself apologizing via Facebook and Twitter for glitchy computers, busy phone lines, bikes that don’t fit easily into bike docks, and keys that haven’t yet arrived. However, the bike program also has celebrated its first 100,000 trips, with the total mileage farther than from the earth to the moon.
