Whoa!!! The following update would have been surreal a year ago. On January 17th last year, Gabriel relapsed. The Cancer was back, worse than before. We were told his odds of seeing the year out are slim...about 15%. Despite our sunken hearts and flowing tears, our eyes were firmly fixed on the future. Our resolve of saving Gabriel was not shaken. Fast forward, today, in the early afternoon hours of January 17th, Gabriels dad summited Mount Kilimanjaro, the worlds tallest free-standing mountain, in honor of Gabriel who survived unimaginable adversity. A year to the day (and to the hour), from the depths of sadness to the heights of joy, Gabriels Wolf Pack was there to support, cheer and pray. Thank you. Also, many thanks are deserved to Gabriels brother Jonah, who donated his bone marrow and sister Libby who showered Gabriel with love and attention. Lastly and most importantly, thank you, hugs and kisses to mommy Nikki who stayed back in Toronto to take care of three very happy, extremely active, sometimes crazy but most importantly, healthy little kids. Here are some shots of the epic climb. We have been off the grid for the past 9 days, so I could not update with pictures. You can see Gabriels penguin marched the entire trail through the jungles, tundra, desert, glaciers, high altitude and lack of oxygen. Thank you to everyone for all the encouragement and support! Need to take a shower now...9 days in the wilderness ... Im sure you can smell me through this post!
