Why I would love an European crew on board not English native ....Is easy to answer that. As you know i am from Spain, and in my country you can life a nice life without speak one single word in English . And that is how was my life until I meet Colin, since then I am in a 24 hours 365 days of full English time. And all my english comes from listening or reading art books, i never study this language . I dont know if you can imaging how frustrate is for me try to follow a conversation between 2 English speaking persons. Every night I sit with friends and I so want understand what they say, but is impossible, all that slang, colloquial expressions, fast talk .... I just try to smile and try to look not too stupid . But sometimes, mostly by night, i am too exhausted, my brain is just tired and i just looks a mix between shy , stupid or arrogant. When I speak with other Europeans who are from not English speaking countrys I am happy because we have a similar English level so we actually can understand each other perfectly !!!. second reason why I prefer European crew is because we are neighbors , we know each others since centuries, always fighting and in wars, but we have a common pass, present and hope future too. I have not idea about the other continents, I can not speak about Africa, Asia, America, Oceania... Is cool learn about that people too, but , I go to have enough Canadian and Fijian and USA people on board to learn about their cultures and sometimes I really would love speak about Angela Merkel, Rafaela Carra o el papa! ....I love enjoy a conversation about Naples, The last night clubs in Berlin, what about Turkey coming to the EU or how cool Luxembourg is starting to be!. Just ...like everybody does...everybody miss their homes and more when you are so far . Is relaxing be with neighbors who knows things as basic as where Spain is, what we eat, that we are not all bullfighters and flamenco dancers. I think everybody need a relax beer without be all the time too concentrate trying to follow a conversation about some governor in Ohio , or some american football player.... I just need a little bit of home feeling in my home.
