Why is it that the worst choices at the grocery store are the - TopicsExpress

Why is it that the worst choices at the grocery store are the least expensive and the healthy choices can seem to cost am arm and a leg? Its simple really - most of the junk in junk food is some form of processed chemical, made in a huge factory with cheap ingredients. Add fancy packaging with pictures that appeal to people at cheap prices - and not to mention the food wont go bad so no worry of wasting money - and the SHEEPLE will line up to stock up. Need I mention the addiction most people have to sugar and HFCS, or the effects of all the dyes, chemicals, and by-products of manufacturing that find their way into food products. Organic fruit and vegetables, on the other hand, require land, water, patience, workers, good weather and time to produce and must be sold before they rot, which means they cant be shipped in bulk and stored in a warehouse till the store needs to stock their shelves, so the price is higher. But the real cost we should look at is the toll those chemicals take on our bodies - our cells, tissues, organs - and our childrens developing bodies. Factor in the ill-health caused by junk food and the ensuing sedentary lifestyle and youll end up with astronomical medical bills to cover up the symptoms caused by the lifestyle choices made over the past 10, 20, 30 years. Kind of makes the higher prices for better quality not sting so much.
