Why not? While were at it, just to delight and confuse all of you. Please listen (if you dare) to the most favorite song of my life. When I was a kid my Dad used to recite a poem that made absolutely NO sense that we three were fascinated with for individual reasons. I eventually learned it (along with other bits of insanity he so kindly passed along) and would pull it out and recite it at crucial moments in important conversations. It turns out Dad had it half right, no not even that.Fast forward to 2009 and Im downloading music from a private blog called Pets Platters set up by a lovely lady from California to share her digitized 78 collection. Oh my did SHE have some cool 78s. I downloaded EVERYTHING she had up and made requests and then one day she shared both sides of this 78 by Harry Reser as The Seven Wild Men. Every hair on my body stood at attention as I listened to it later. It was that CRAZY poem that my Dad had recited so long ago. But, also IT WASNT. Let me explain. This record ( the only one done under the name The Seven Wild Men) came out when my father was 4 years old. What he passed down to us of its lyrics was this weird pastiche of elements of the song lyrics that became the finest example of non-sequitor this young person was to ever receive. It was all he could remember and crazy in itself. When I heard this for the first time I was amazed that my Dad had concocted his OWN version of the song, his edit or remix, so to speak so many years ago and had kept it alive in my family until that day when I finally heard this MONSTROUSLY COOL and CRAZY song that will forever be my favorite song of all time.
