Why the hell do we need to intervene in Syria? We had a Civil War - TopicsExpress

Why the hell do we need to intervene in Syria? We had a Civil War over here where 600,000 were killed, and there were humanitarian reasons galore for European powers to intervene, but none did. And thank Goodness for that. Syria is a threat to the United States in the same sense that Iraq is, but not in any greater sense. Saddam Hussein gassed his population. Saddam was friendly with Russia. Saddam was an enemy of Israel. Do we really think we did the right thing by getting involved there? I hear that the French are on our side here. Well, swell. Syria was a "French protectorate" after World War One when the "victorious" powers carved up the Middle East out of the Ottoman Empire. Here is what I love about that. France got oil-dry Syria and Lebanon to "protect," and Britain got Iraq. Italy got Libya. So, the stupidest country in World War One has jumped on board with President Obama. Great.
