Why the problems faced by the low wage worker and PMETs are not - TopicsExpress

Why the problems faced by the low wage worker and PMETs are not new. 6 years on, they still face the same problems. Parliament. April 2007. Josephine Teo (Bishan-Toa Payoh), now Minister of State. For the low-wage workers, we want to continue to have able people in Government work hard to support job redesign and skills upgrading, so that more low-wage workers can get better jobs and better pay... For the PMETs, we want to continue to have a bold Government to create new jobs and to invest in retraining so that their new careers are better, if not as good as their old ones. Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, in conclusion, I think if we want people, including Ministers, to give of their best, we should not create the conditions to make them feel disaffected, for example, by paying them far lower salaries than commensurate with the demands of the job. sprs.parl.gov.sg/search/topic.jsp?currentTopicID=00002403-WA¤tPubID=00004736-WA&topicKey=00004736-WA.00002403-WA_1%2B%2B
