Why we do it!!! I never thought about natural birth before. I actually figured that anyone who had a natural birth was crazy.... But, on June 5th, five weeks before I was due, a long time friend that I hadn’t actually seen in 19 years (thank you, Facebook) sent me a message about “improving birth.” I’m not sure what made her send it to me, but I saw the web link [to Dear Friend, Birth Doesnt Have to Suck] and said to myself “Yeah! Anything to make this scary experience better, great! I clicked on the link and seeing phrases like “you don’t have to…” “You control….” “You can have a great experience…” “This is about what you want” and “get a doula!”” This mama went on to have a natural birth she describes as amazing, joyful, and beautiful. We support women giving birth however they want, natural or not. Its all about decisions based on information, not fear. The article she started with, Dear Friend, Birth Doesnt Have to Suck, is being released this week in an eBook with several other essays by IB VP Cristen Pascucci--for you to share with the women you care about!
