Why, when I meet people for the first time in New York City, is - TopicsExpress

Why, when I meet people for the first time in New York City, is the first question always, Where do your kids go to school? --its like a status symbol if they go to a good school. Yesterday, a grandmother who often brags about where her grandchildren go to school (Ill cut her some slack, cause what grandparent doesnt brag about his/her grandchildren) asked me, Where does he go to school? referring to a boy in the elevator with us who, by the way, is 7. I was happy to report I had no idea. Can anyone relate to what Im saying, or am I just being ornery? All I care about is that my kids work hard, try their best, and are good people. Where they go to school doesnt define them, nor should it.
